FAQ

  • What is Shoot the Breeze about?

Shoot the Breeze is a print and digital magazine that tells real stories from real people. Currently focused in Oklahoma, we focus on creativity, community, education, and all the people making change happen. Artists, CEO’s, activists, musicians, and everyday people with stories to tell.

  • Who runs the magazine?

The magazine is independently created and operated by Brandon Tellez, an Air Force veteran turned storyteller. Currently, Brandon handles everything from writing and editing to photography and design. Shoot the Breeze is always looking for inspired individuals who want to contribute. If you are interested in writing, taking pictures, or helping in any way, please reach out.

  • How often is the magazine published?

Great question. As of right now there is no set schedule, which I know is a bit of a turn off. We aim to be unique in every way, and to do that right now requires an open timetable. The goal is to build up to monthly releases once we have more people helping out.

  • Can I contribute to the magazine?

Hell yeah! We are always looking to collaborate with local writers, authors, photographers, graphic designers, community leaders, anyone who wants to help with the process or share their story. If you have a pitch for a story, or want to contribute in any way head to our Contact or Submissions page and let us know what you’re about!

  • What kind of stories do you publish?

We publish a little bit of everything. Each issue has a broad theme, survival or music for instance. Stories within follow that broad theme while presenting many different perspectives. Interviews, long-form features, and short spotlights. Each story reflects our core values—Honest, Positive, and, Educational. If it’s authentic, thought-provoking, and rooting in the community—we are interested.

  • How can I support the magazine?

You can support us by sharing our stories, getting a copy of the magazine, attending events, or just telling a friend. We are grassroots and independent by design, every bit of support helps us keep on creating and building up the community.
